The Patrick Sullivan 2024 Chardonnay, sourced from the Limestone Coast vineyards of Mount Gambier, Coonawarra and Wrattonbully, opens with lively citrus notes of lime, lemon, and grapefruit, complemented by aromas of nutmeg spice and hazelnut oak. As the glass warms, richer layers of ripe peach, vanilla custard and buttered toast emerge. The wine also features a delicate lacework of minerality and zesty acidity that cuts through its creamy crème brûlée opulence. These Limestone Coast vineyards are characterized by a shallow volcanic topsoil overlaying subsoils of limestone and basalt. This region, the third largest volcanic plain on Earth, is home to around 400 dormant volcanoes.
