Born of the many rural regions of Victoria, Patrick had a nomadic childhood.

Patrick Sullivan is on a singular mission to craft Australia’s most expressive chardonnay. Since his first vintage in 2013, Patrick has gained a reputation for precision and individuality, favouring intuition and a strong connection to land over convention. Rooted in Gippsland’s wild cool-climate terrain with its ancient volcanic soils and dramatic landscapes, his wines reflect their origins with clarity and complexity. Patrick’s focus has always been on the vineyard, believing that great wines are grown and not made, leading him to study viticulture over oenology and embrace a hands-on, detail-driven approach to farming.

This philosophy led him to the volcanic soils of the Baw Baw Shire, where he now works vineyards such as Tumblestone Farm, Ada River and Bull Swamp, each offering the structure, freshness and minerality that define world-class chardonnay. Early in his career, Patrick spent time working across vineyards in the Yarra Valley, where he developed a strong foundation in sustainable farming and a practical understanding of site-focused viticulture. Returning to Gippsland, he launched his eponymous label, quickly gaining a loyal following and critical acclaim for his high-scoring wines. Now exploring volcanic soils around southern Australia, Patrick continues to deepen his understanding of diverse sites, and with a renewed focus on chardonnay, crafts wines that tell the story of site, soil and season.
